Frequently Asked Questions

How does the HOOP Protocol work?
You’ll be doing four things your body needs to eliminate knee pain and come back more athletic than ever:
  • Hold – Isometrics to calm pain and rebuild tendon capacity
  • Overload – Progressive strength training to bulletproof your body
  • Output – Plyometrics and power work to regain explosiveness
  • Play – A structured return to basketball so you come back better than before
I don’t have much time to train like I used to, am I gonna have to spend hours at the gym?
You don’t need 90-minute workouts anymore. You need efficient sessions that give you the biggest return on your time. Everything in this program is designed for busy hoopers to fit around work, family, and pickup runs.
I’ve tried PT/rehab before, what makes this any different?
To be honest, most PTs don't know anything about basketball, and they dang sure don't know how to help someone go from pain to performance. I've dedicated my life and career to learning as much as I can about rehab, strength and conditioning, and basketball in order to help as many hoopers as possible play for as long as they want. This program is designed from the ground up to help you not just fix your knee pain, but also play better than you have in years.
How does the price compare to in-person physical therapy or personal training?
Depending on your insurance, basketball-specific rehab may not be covered at all. Even if it is, most plans require 1+ clinic visits per week for 8+ weeks, with $40+ copays and $100+ per visit if you have not met your deductible. That puts you at $1,100+ for 8 visits, with no support between sessions and a generic program that is not built for basketball.

Personal training runs $50–$100 per session. That is $400 on the low end for once per week, leaving you to figure out the rest on your own, and up to $2,400 if you train three times per week.

This program is different. It is like having a coach in your pocket for every workout, every day, with ongoing guidance and support instead of isolated sessions.
What equipment do I need to have?
There's options from body weight to dumbbells up to a full gym set up, so you'll have the optimal program no matter what equipment you have.

Limited Time - Get a Coach in Your Pocket

Coaching & Real-Time Support
Wouldn't it be nice to have access to a physical therapist and strength coach like a college or pro team? Now you can know what that's like. Get expert guidance and accountability so you are never guessing, stalling, or repeating the same mistakes that caused your knee pain in the first place.
I've used this Protocol with hundreds of clients in-person. As I take this Protocol online for the first time, I'm offering free coaching for 6 months to the first 25 9 hoopers that sign up.

About Me

Chris Lords, DPT - Doctor of Physical Therapy
I'm a basketball obsessed physical therapist. Allegedly, my first word was basketball (for real, that's what my mom claims haha)
I've been playing basketball all my life. I won a basketball state championship in high school, then ran a year of college track before chasing my dream of coaching college basketball.Over the next four years, I worked as a student manager and strength and conditioning intern at the University of Montana and Utah Valley University for the men's basketball teams. In that time, I learned how to build effective and time efficient strength and conditioning programs, and run effective practice that maximize basketball skill development. However, I felt that something was missing. It's great that college athletes and professional athletes can get that level of coaching. But what about us average guys? Somebody needs to take care of us.Because of that feeling, I decided to pursue physical therapy instead of college coaching, with a dream of helping everyday hoopers stay athletic and pain-free so that we can all play the game we love until the day we die.
